Twas a clear and sprightly Mid-Spring May
But many, many years has gone
Since it left me here forlon
Warm and brilliant was the sun
That cut across the crystal sky.
With rays that fluttered down below
To tickle shoulders, cheeks and chins
An allegro of children’s laughter
Ascended to the trees
And brushed along the birds
Who waltzed all through the air.
Twas a clear and sprightly, Mid-Spring May
But many, many a year has gone
Since it left me here forlorn.
Summer’s blazing heat fueled the burning passions
While words of anger’s furry billowed on
All through Autumn’s gusting winds
By winter’s steely gaze, all was frozen into place.
Twas a clear and sprightly Mid-Spring May
But many, many a year has gone
Since it left me here forlorn.
A ghastly haze of darkness floated in
Covering a vast divide of tangled cords
Hidden in the valley’s deep ne’r to be undone
No doctor could mend the wounds
No chemist could conjure the potion
No mother could sing a lullaby sweet enough
Chasm.
A great chasm had formed.
